At Global Office Solutions, giving back to the community is something we feel strongly about. That’s why we strive to take every opportunity we can to help organizations and causes that are near and dear to the people and residents around us. This year we were proud to support the American Brain Tumor Association by sponsoring The Breakthrough for Brain Tumors 5k this past May. Since this event was so important to us, we decided to shine a light on the brain tumor association and detail a few takeaways from the fundraiser.
Shining a Spotlight on The American Brain Tumor Association
The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) has been solely dedicated to brain tumors for over 40 years. When the association first started out, it was the first national nonprofit advocacy organization that was focused on this cause. Since the start, the mission of ABTA has been to “advance the treatment of brain tumors with the goals of improving, extending, and, ultimately, saving the lives of those impacted by a brain tumor diagnosis”. Through their efforts, the ABTA has provided support to patients and caregivers and have also funded research in the hopes of improving diagnosis and care. The impacts of the association have been measured by growth in the ABTA community, the number of scientists involved in the research, the amount of research dollars raised, and much more.
The Breakthrough for Brain Tumors 5k
The Breakthrough for Brain Tumors 5k (BT5K) is a series of annual events held by the ABTA in cities all over the United States. This acts as the association’s signature fundraising event with participants from coast to coast. Participation in this event allows the ABTA the opportunity to provide vital resources to brain tumor patients and their families. It also helps fund research studies and even helps conduct nationwide educational programs. Every year these events grow larger and larger and achieve many generous donations from organizations and participants alike.
How Global Provides Support in Michigan
This year, the BT5K event that Global Office Solutions attended was held on Saturday, May 13th at Kensington Metropark – Martingdale Beach. This was the 4th year for the event and we were proud to be a part of it. The 5k had a great turn out with over 2,000 runners attending. Global was honored to sponsor the event and provide our coffee service for free. Overall, the event was a huge success and it raised over 222 thousand dollars. We are looking forward to participating in next year’s 5k and continuing to support ABTA in any way we can.
