Wow, can you believe another year is coming to an end already? 2013 has been a big year for us and with it rounding down, we’re taking a moment to reflect on all of our accomplishments from the past 360 something days. Before I go any further, I have to stop for a moment and say thank you. Thanks to every customer who has chosen us and continues to choose us for your custom printing, janitorial supplies, business products and office supplies, and more. As cliché as it sounds, without our customers, we would be nothing and our customers ROCK!
As I’m reflecting on 2013 at Global, one of the first things that comes to my mind is Inc. 5000 award we won. We came in as the No. 4061 fastest growing company in America and were listed as the No. 68 top company in the Detroit Metro Area. Within three years this company grew by 65 percent. As our revenue increased, we added new employees to our team. The following individuals (who I’m proud to introduce) are among our new 2013 employees:
Yizhi (Alice) Li – Alice is originally from Beijing, China where she worked at a CPA firm. She attended Oakland University in 2011 for her Masters Degree in Accounting. Following graduation (which was in April) she joined our team as an accountant specialist later in June. Alice handles our invoices, employee timesheet tracking, questions from customers and vendors on payments, etc. When we asked her why she chose Global, she said one of the reasons was because her friend who is a current employee had great things to say about us. (Thanks, friend!)
Heather Penny – Heather is one of our customer service specialists. She started with us about eight months ago. On the day-to-day, the main task she performs is meeting customers’ needs by providing them with in-depth product knowledge. Heather is originally from West Michigan and holds a degree from Western Michigan University.
Other new employees include: Jing Fan and Adam Adkins. Stay tuned for their bios!
Another big thing for us this past year has been celebrating our 15th Anniversary! This company was tiny when I started it, so tiny that in its first few years, I ran it out of my garage for quite some time. A short term loan back then from my future Mother-in-law helped me get it off the ground. We are looking forward to another 15 years! I hope some day my kids will be as passionate about this business as I am and can take it over when I’m old and grey. What else happened in 2013? Well, we added Lexmark as a business solution. We are now a Lexmark Authorized Business Solutions Dealer. In addition, we expanded our promotional products services to offer custom printing via easy online ordering.
Giving back to the community is something that’s very important to me. This past year we supported the following, great local non-profits.
We provided them with monetary donations and custom services to reduce their costs and streamline some of their current processes. Our desire to give back to the community is something that won’t ever change as long as I’m alive.
What’s Coming in 2014
We recently we developed a Coffee and Breakroom program and will begin to roll it out this month. Prior to having the program in full effect, we have already helped a national client get their coffee machine and water filter installed in a remote area of Wisconsin. Their current provider was unable to get the machines delivered and serviced to this area, but Global did – that’s the fanatical Global Office Solutions service our clients have come to expect! Our Coffee and Breakroom program allows us to provide office coffee service as a full service program on a national basis to support our both our local and national customers. As part of this expanded service, we created next day delivery capabilities for businesses in Alaska. A lot of work has gone into it and will continue to go into it, but seeing that one of our customers in Alaska at times needs delivery in less than five days, it’s important to me that we get them what they need.
Well folks, that’s all for now. If there’s something you would like to see from us that you have not seen yet, we’d love to hear from you! Let’s connect.
